Vaccines

Vaccines are one of the greatest public health success stories in history, eradicating smallpox and nearly eliminating diseases like polio.

According to the World Health Organization, vaccines help prevent more than 30 infectious diseases and 2 to 3 million lives are saved worldwide each year through vaccination.

For more than a century, MSD scientists have been discovering vaccines and we have been home to some of the world’s greatest vaccinologists, including Dr. Maurice Hilleman, who developed more than 30 vaccines over the course of his career, which included nearly 30 years at MSD.

MSD has a broad portfolio of vaccines across all life stages allowing us to positively impact population health by helping us to prevent debilitating illnesses including chicken pox, shingles, HPV and Hepatitis B.

MSD is dedicated to the complex business of researching and producing vaccines as well as ensuring they are recognised as playing a crucial role in improving population health.
